Will the City of Toledo remove a dead animal from my yard?
No. Ohio Revised Code 941.14 puts the duty on the owner of the premises that contain a dead animal, and no agency checked offers free pickup from private land. City, county and state crews deal with their own roads and property: a Toledo street, a Lucas County or township road, or a state route such as I-75, I-475, US-23 or Ohio 2.
It is lying in the street. Who do I call?
For a Toledo city street, Engage Toledo on 419-936-2020, which is the City’s 24/7 service request channel. For a Lucas County or township road, the County publishes a Dead Animal on County Road report form and the County Engineer is on 419-213-2860. For an interstate or state route it is ODOT. Those are free and are not this site’s job.
How much does it cost?
No price is published here because the operator has not agreed one for publication. Size, access, whether the animal has to be found first, and how long it has been there are what move the number. You get a quote directly on the call back.
Can you get a dead mouse out of my wall?
If it can be reached without cutting into finished wall or ceiling, yes. If it is sealed inside a closed cavity, reaching it means opening the wall, and this site does not present that as routine removal work or promise the repair afterward. Working out which of the two you have is a fair reason to call.
How long will the smell last if it cannot be reached?
Longer than most people expect, and nobody can honestly give you a date. It depends on the size of the animal, the season and how much air moves through that cavity. Weeks rather than days is the realistic expectation, and an exact promise is worth distrusting.
Do you handle dead deer?
Dead deer on private land is work this site books, and it is the heaviest version of it. Whether a particular deer is taken depends on its size, where it is lying and how close a vehicle can get. That gets answered on the call rather than promised here.
Which areas are covered?

What happens if my ZIP is outside the area?
It comes to the office rather than being passed to an operator who does not work there. Places like Findlay, Tiffin, Norwalk and Upper Sandusky fall outside the covered area and are handled that way deliberately, so nobody is sent somewhere they do not cover.
Is this a removal company?

What should I do while I wait?
Keep children and pets away from it, dogs in particular. Leave it where it is. Moving it by hand makes the job harder to price and it is not worth handling yourself.
